Its is the symbol of the city of Cividale del Friuli: the daring construction project was designed by Iacopo da Bissone (1442), built by Erardo da Villacco and finished, after some vicissitudes, by Bartolomeo delle Cisterne in early 6th century; it is made of two arches and it stands on a hard sandstone in the Natisone’s riverbed.
